Lieutenant James Brewer Crane Couch, M.D., U.S. Navy, was killed instantly by an exploding mine while attending to a US Army soldier five miles northwest of Chuncheon, Korea, on April 5, 1951. Lieutenant Couch was a Naval Medical Officer assigned to the First Cavalry Division, US Army.  Lieutenant Junior Grade Couch was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
